VERY WELL SAID

Very well said? This is beside the point but it's an important point to make with your logic.

The music industry is so different today that it's actually better to have a smaller independent record deal then a huge record deal with a major label. Why? Because the major labels are broke, and the returns bands get on cd sales/merchendise/tours etc are less than half of what they used to be even 10 years ago. This is because of internet downloads. The major labels take almost all the money a band makes and pockets it these days(unless you're a huge megastar like madonna and have been around 20 years), leaving bands broke. Since Major labels monopolize clear channel radio stations for the most part and with the rise of internet downloads and online radio, gauging a bands popularity based on actual radio play and major label status is obsolete. Many bands would rather tour and play on a smaller scale and make some money then risk dealing with a major. Plus being on an indie now isn't the disadvantage it used to be because of the internet, myspace and youtube.

So if a band like Tantric is playing smaller venues these days, sure its an indication of losing some popularity but its not the huge insult it used to be. Many bands have figured out its best for them to do things on a smaller scale if they arnt going to be the next justin timberlake or lady gaga.
