Since when do they need to check the heat index before the kids can play. My son said they could not play today as it was too hot???

Since NYS passed the rule that if the REAL FEEL is 96 or above you cant start practice,if it reaches it during you are not required to check again. Accuweather under the temp it shows realfeel temp.....

That is wrong the temp must be re-checked (At least during the half-time break) during games if the real feel is above 90 near the start of the game, if the temp hits at any point and time during the contest or practice the game is supposed to stop now, same as any other type of weather stoppage. Its going to kill many contests in early fall and late spring season games.

go to http://www.sectionivathletics.com/Handbooks.html and select the Football handbook, then scroll down to page 18 and read a bit, then look at page 21 for RealFeel info etc.

YOu'll need Microsoft Word or Word Viewer to read the handbook.

Bring back the grass. When the turf fields crumble from overuse they'll be bringing back the grass. Long live muddy fall games!!!!

Thay stop games for heat to protect the athletes but in most scool districts the students are not allowed water bottles through the school day?? Wheres the common sense. It is impossible for the athletes to be properly hydrated for a game, what little bit they can get from a water fountain is just not enough. The coaches preach hydration which I agree with but Ive often said high school sports are like trying to master playing while your dehydrated. This is supidity and NYS needs to see the problem here.
