I am starting to look into getting a JD Gator or Yamaha Rhino. Does anyone have either of these machines or a similar Utility Veh? I know that Polaris has the Ranger and I think Kawasaki makes one as well. Any advice and/or recommendations are appreciated. If you like one over another please state why. My property is kind of steep and the trails are aggressive so I need a pretty nimble machine. Have been using a 400 cc ATV for the last several years but want something a little more useful.

Used both and worked well on the Pipeline right-a-ways, Rhino and Gator are both good machines. Tos up here.

I have a Rhino and had a JD Gator. I would have to say that the Rhino is twice the machine that the Gator was for power, 4 wheel drive and manueverability. Both machines worked well but the Rhino is a better machine.

Thanks Billy. I have heard some complaints regarding the noise level on the Rhino. Any opinion on this? Also, the new Gator "620i" is out just this year. What year was your Gator?

real happy with the polaris ranger. 1, 2 0r 4 wheel drive &independent suspension (you pay extra for the three option tranny). the only thing i would suggest is make sure you get a windshield as these machines are wider than a 4 wheeler and that puts you in contact with brush you would normally drive by. anyway i don't think you can buy a BAD one just stick with major manufacturers. good luck!

Mine was a 2005 and it was Slow. The Rhino is a little noisy but I don't think it's any worse than any of the others.
