LOL! OMG! I know, TV adds 20 lbs., blah, blah, blah. Whatever. Anyone who has been down south, and it doesn't need to only be Texas, but anywhere down south where Football actually IS a real sport versus kids playing all these other hobbies like lacrosse/soccer, know that ANY of these NY teams won't win down south. Just like we can't play lacrosse down there, ya'll can't play football up here. ME is a team one if every 20 years?! Exactly, that's how sad football is up here. ME/UE/Binghamton, you're a dime a dozen down in TX, FL, GA, CA, AL, and more.

Why dont u move out of your trailor and go back down to hillbilly texas so you can watch some real football. Why does a asshole like you sit her and rip on kids out there busting there ass just like the kids in texas do. I am not a ME fan but you should strap on a pair of cleats and line up against the Shelepek boys form ME or try and run down Sorrenti. It wouldnt be a good outcome for you Texas boy. Typical BC voicer to come on here and rid 16 or 17 year old kids busiting there ass.

The game of the season has arrived. Both teams 7-0 with the bragging rights for Section 4 supremacy on the line.

What is everyone's predictions for this one...

ME wins and if they don't falter in the playdowns cement their claim to be the best small ball team from Section 4 ever, over CF.

UE loses to the Section 3 Champion, their O is too 1 dimensional and they aren’t big enough to overcome that.

UE falter to section 3.? JD and Indian River are tiny but fast. Kind of like Binghamton. UE will be the favorite going in. Win that game and either Sweet Home victor or Eastridge will be up. That game may be the end of the road for the tigers. But you never know. We may have two teams from the same zipcode in the dome this year.

I must admit that I don’t know anything about this years Section 3 teams.

UE just didn’t impress me enough to convince me that they can beat the champion of a section with 11 A teams. Just playing the odds.

I would be happy to be wrong about this call.

No, best 2012 team in our area. To most news media experts that cover the game at non-professional levels the term "program" means over the length of time, usually a couple of decades or more. U-E is in the discussion for that title locally, not M-E though.

How many state titles has UE played for and won? Zero? Ok, welll M-E is going for its third. What other section 4 programs has 3 state titles? One does, do you know who? Who has ever won back to back state titles in section 4? One does, do you kmow who? Who has won 3 state titles in less the 10 years? If M-E wins a state title this year, they have the best program in section 4. UE isn't in the discussion until they win something.

Actually, no Section 4 school has three football state titles.

Forks is the one. They played in five straight Class B state title games and 6 of 7 seasons they were in the B final. They were one yard from playing in 7 straight. Odds are NO ONE in Section 4 will ever top that. Only one game in that 7 season stretch were they "blown out" and I believe it was a 3 TD loss.

I still would not say it's a better program than CF in regards to recent success (not to mention they lost one state title game on a FG as time expired), but it's a GREAT accomplishment! Three titles will be the jazz!

No section 4 team has ever “played” to win a state title. The NYC and LI schools do not participate in the “Upstate” Playdowns and Section 5 does not allow the private schools to play in their sectionals. Too many good teams left out to make the playdowns relevant.

The LI schools in particular are amoung the best in the state.

I consider the highest ranking team in the USA Today rankings [if any] to be the state champion. Not conclusive, but makes more sense to me than having multiple state champions and a couple hundred all state players.

Yeah, the U.E. program sucks, I don't know how they produced the last 4 NFL players in Broome County and how they have more D1 players then everybody.

Never said they sucked, just hasn't won anything outside of section 4, like other elite section 4 football programs like ME, Forks and Walton. However, makes you wonder how UE has had soo much talent and hasn't been able to win more outside of the section? Four NFL players and not even a sniff of the Dome?

How many times does this AA versus small ball titles have to be explained. Walton wins their titles by playing other farmschools with tiny classes the same as theirs. In Section 4 AA schools like U.E. would graduate say 305 kids. They would win the Section 4 title and have to beat the winner of Section 3 that would be the best out of 16 teams all of which would have much bigger enrollments then U.E.

many of those schools would have enrollments over twice the size of a U.E. or Binghamton. The Syracuse team might have a graduating class of 600 kids to U.E.'s 300. In grades 10-12 that is an extra 900 kids or 450 boys to pick a team from. How many titles would Forks, Walton or M.E. win if they had to go up against numbers like that.? the answer is ZERO. On top of that when you play these Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo teams in AA you are playing against teams that are loaded with many fast black players. U.E. might have 3 or 4 on their team compared to 20plus on a city team. When Section 4 B-D teams play in the State games they play against teams that our similarly mostly white. So please stop the nonsense about these Forks, Walton and M.E. programs. They combined have produced ZERO NFL players and have produced very few legitimate D1 AA players.

Yes, but what you guys seem to never mention is that, in the playoffs, U-E and Binghamton are not losing to schools that size. They are losing to schools with about 30% larger enrollments at most, and at times smaller schools, while at least when Forks was playing in Class B, they were a very small B and playing larger Bs that had enrollments about 20% larger.

Yes, the larger schools play a higher caliber of ball, there is no question about that. More players = better teams in the big picture. And yes, when you play Section 3's AA champ, while not necessarily vastly larger, the fact that they have 3X the number of AA teams, their champ will generally be better than ours as we have fewer teams and the odds just work ou that way.

The bottom line is, you compete against your peers for the most part. Schools that have continual and perennial success at their level ARE in fact program schools, especially in their region. We can break down regions many ways. You can say Section 4, then you can enlarge it and say Central NY, then even larger at the NYS level, then Northeast, then east and then National. As you expand the regions, in NYS for the most part the best"programs" pale in consideration of the larger regions. If we could lift and transplant NY state to the mid-west and call it part of Texas, we'd rarely see a team from the old NY part compete for a title in the great state of Texas. Walton and Forks deserve credit for what they accomplished. It's just a different level, that's all. And occasionally, a program at their level WILL have a stellar team that is overall better than all teams in their region at a level or two up in that particular season. It's natural. M-E gets a chance to prove that this weekend, Forks did not have that chance in 2004 but hey arguably were the best team in the Section in 2004 and maybe 2002. Arguably. In either case they give other teams in the discussion a great game.

Second bottom line, Section 4 has teams in 4 of the 5 classes that have a shot at playing for the title in the Dome. U-E, M-E of course, Waverly/Forks/Sidney and certainly Tioga. Do not be surprised if we see 4 teams in the state semis and even 3 in the final.

I think you have exagerated the size of the Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo schools. Only C-N. and Proctor have enrollments up there with the Long Island [8 & 11], Section 1, NFA and a few others.

And whats with this crap about black players. I saw OP pound BHS last year and the only black player of note was the TB. He was fast, but not sprinter class fast. They were a bunch of really big white boys.

Many of those years Webster was in AA before they split and they had graduating classes of 1000 plus. Liverpool, CNS and Utic a were huge schools. In order to beat them some of the teams that did had there once in 20 year teams. Auburn, West Genny etc. On top of that there was a run by CBA which recruited the entire area and had D1 players like Paulus on the team. Binghamton and U.E. were at a huge disadvantage.

I'm not disputing that statistically a Section 4 AA team is at a disadvantage. Webster Combined, C-N and Proctor were large, no argument there.

But, the huckleberry said: "They would win the Section 4 title and have to beat the winner of Section 3 that would be the best out of 16 teams all of which would have much bigger enrollments then U.E."

Most had larger enrollments than UE, only a few had MUCH BIGGER ENROLLMENTS. The biggest advantage Section 4 has over Section 3 in both AA and A is that with so few teams in these classifications in Section 4 the chances of a legit TOP 10 team for any given year is much lower.
