Kermit save your time...the op will not and actually i think is incapable of understanding logic. he is so set in his ways that he can not see anything but his own twisted and simple opinion. We treid to get him to comprehend this and other logical proven points but his simple mind can not grasp the medically obvious. he was supposed to give us some proof of his twisted rants but he has not and will not because nothing exists for him.

keep thinkg that.

i have a different opinion than you, so it must be simple.

Aren't we full of ourselves

Nope, not me. I have three pugs and a German Shepherd. They pretty much "graze" in the back yard. I live up the other side of Wyoming Conference, just off Chenango Street. When you get off your fat people rant, I'd like to talk...we could be friends. When I was 20, I ran 5 miles every night with a friend, and loved it. I just can't do that anymore. My body has changed. It sucks when you can no longer do the things you used to, but you adapt to it...part of growing old.

i'm almost 40

like I said, I am predisposed to be fat. I just bust my azz to be sure I'm not

Had 3 cookies and a cupcake at the Father Daughter dance last night at PD and knew I had to get a little extra run in this Am. Saw a dude walkin a pug and thought, how funny, it might be you.

The older I get, the harder it is, no doubt.

But no excuses, I owe it to my kids to not be a slob

sorry, no way. It completely defies everything we know about nutrition and science.

guarantee you are eating more calories than you think

So then you never had that friend that can eat whatever they want and never gain a pound? You are saying everybody's body is exactly the same and if you and I eat the exact same food and do the exact same amount of exercise we will have the exact same results and weigh the same?

Nothing is exact

but 1500 calories is very very low. and if the poster truly is exercising that much, he would lose weight.

The problem most likely is they aren't counting calories accurately. A slow metabolism is one thing, you'd have to be dead to not metabolize weight loss with the figures this poster is giving

I read something recently that suggested if you don't eat enough calories per day you will gain weight because the body goes into starvation mode or something.

1500 is a little high for what you are suggesting, but it could be. More than likely the poster just isn't accurate, or eating a ton of empty calories

An average body requires around 1200-1500 to keep itself alive every day. "starvation mode" is a real thing the body does to protect itself if it believes that calorie intake is going to be a problem, however, it is a short term condition. If it wasn't, wouldn't those in Nazi work camps have lasted longer. (By the way, in no way am I making light of those camps, it's an analogy that would be understandable for most.)

I agree that if someone is only taking in 1500 calories per day and exercising, they will be losing weight. I believe that there is simply some sort of miscalculation in calorie consumption if they are not. Miscalculating is easy to do if you're cooking for yourself, and if you're not cooking for yourself and eating out, it's next to impossible to be satisfied and under 1500 per day.

No way Kermit is going to come clean

it's easier to just say the slow metabolism is to blame

I read something recently that suggested if you don't eat enough calories per day you will gain weight because the body goes into starvation mode or something.

There is a process your body can go into called "starvation mode". It slows down your metabolism. Your body, whether thin or heavy, wants to maintain stasis. It will resist your attempts to shed fat cells by making adjustments when you reduce your caloric intake. That's one reason dieting alone does not work well, and is not a healthy option.

In order to keep your metabolism up, you'd need to excercise. Aerobic excercise will do that. However, anaerobic excercise will assist greatly too, as adding a little more muscle will help increase your resting metabolic rate. Muscles are your calorie burning "furnace". You can literally eat more and not get fat if you add some muscle to your body.

In fact, most weight training advice will suggest you keep your calorie count up as you train with weights. If your body doesn't have the fuel it needs to add muscle cells, it will be harded to gain muscle.

not when I have to sit next to them on a plane, or on the bus.

Not when my health care premiums go up

not when they raise fat/ obese kids

If someone smokes, is it their business....not mine?

Second hand smoke is harmful to the health of non-smokers.

Looking at a fat person or sitting next to one isn't harmful to your health.

Your healthcare premiums have been rising for a number of reasons...most unrelated to obesity.

Why don't we tax people with asthma?

There are a lot more obese and overweight people in the USA than asthmatics.

In the next 10 to 30 years, when the effects of a majority fat population hits our health system full force with their disintegrating bodies, health care costs will skyrocket like we can't imagine.

You're still here? Obesity is related to welfare, medicare and foodstamps how? Are you going to make this one up as well?

OK......I'm waiting. Give me your data.

It's OK if you're just DELETED off. Stop with the ignorant posts.

Contrary to the claims of poverty advocates, the major dietary problem facing poor Americans is too much, not too little, food. Public policies should be directed toward encouraging the poor to avoid chronic over-consumption, exercise more, and reduce intake of foods rich in fat and added sugar.

The second thing you notice is the prevalence of obesity in this group. Americans in general are over-weight and Wal-Mart is a good place to observe that phenomena. But these folks paying with WIC Cards make the rest of America look like anorexic supermodels. They are huge. It is clear that the poor are not going hungry in Wyoming. If anything they are getting too much food.

[]

You gonna ignore this one too

Any number of conditions and illnesses have an effect on healthcare costs

AIDS

Cancer

Diabetes

Asthma

Hypertension

Erectile dysfunction (how many horny old men ar using their prescription benefit cards for Viagra?)

Heart Disease

Alzheimers

Parkinsons

Arthritis

Influenza (up to 50 million annually contract the flu)

Shall we tax them all?

how dare you compare being a fat slob to asthma, alzheimers or arthritis?

If a person's medical condition is a result of their behavior- it should have consequences.

some one who is born with asthma is the same as a fat pig feeding her face and not exercising enough?

because asthma isn't the fault of its victim

Cancer, arthritis, etc. can lead to weight gain as it impacts a persons ability to exercise. Again, sometimes people's medical conditions impact their weight. Also, enough with pointing fingers at women....there a plenty of overweight men in this area as well. I thing the only pig around here is you.
