Avelo permanently terminating service from BGM to Orlando

I'd like to see what kind of actual offers or negotiations BGM has had with American Airlines about flights to Philly or Charlotte.  In addition to free rent at the airport, how much would it cost the county?  At this point would American even return a call from Broome County?

The money that was waisted on Aveo should have gone to a reputable airline for a longterm deal.  Florida is great for peolpe who are vacationing in... Florida.  But that flight was never very practical. We would benefit the most from a flight to Philly, Charlotte (American) or Washington DC (Delta).

I don't support the idea that we should be giving taxpayer money to airlines, period. Either there's enough business here for them to operate, or there isn't. Why the hell would we be giving taxpayer money to private companies?

They limited ticket sales to keep the crowds manageable. Just because they call Saturday a sell out doesn't mean there weren't more people at previous airshows when they sold more tickets. There were much bigger airshows in the early 2000s. Orlando International is a good connection for Caribbean, Latin American, and many other international destinations, as well as any US destination, so not sure what was impractical about it, or why Charlotte or DC would be that much more practical.

The old DC flight went to the gate furthest from all others at the airport, making it a close call for missing connecting flights; somewhat impractical.

I was at the Binghamton Airport today.  Renovations aside, it looked like the lawn hasn't been moved in weeks.... the landscaping is atrocious.  Aren't people paid to mow the lawn and take care of the trees and shrubs?  What a horrible first impression for the international students who will be flying into our airport soon.

You're exactly right.  The entire airport grounds look like an abandoned airport.  The current airport management can't even keep the grass mowed. It's no surprise the local cost of the airport project skyrocketed from $3 million to $20 million.  That's our local tax dollars, not money from the state or federal government.  You've got a couple kids in there who have no idea what they're doing. Until they stop hiring people for political favors, the airport will be a major drain on Broome County and more and more of a disappointment for us small aircraft owners.
